Just a regular mook, fascinated by spirituality, who’s dabbled in Catholicism, Scientology, Occultism, Born-Again Christianity, with an interest in Quakerism and who has now put one foot on the Buddhist path.
I live in Scotland with my wife and a cat who struggles to take me seriously.
This post gives a better explanation as to how I came to be blogging again.
Hi Mook, for some reason I’ve only just discovered your blog tonight! It’s lovely. A fellow Buddhist, too? looking forward to reading about your journey on this spiritual path.
Have you taken a trip to Samye Ling in Dumfriesire, yet? It is a wonderful Tibetan retreat centre. I first visited many moons ago.
Although I do not follow this form of Buddhism, I got so much from the experience. It’s up in Scotland, so maybe not too far to get to?
I am hoping to get out to Plum Village in France this summer with the boys to see the great Master, however, not sure if Josh will be able to, um, stay that quiet for that long!!!!!!!
Best wishes
Rachel
Hi Rachel
Yes, I’ve been down to Samye Ling a few times to visit – it’s an absolutely beautiful place.
I’ve recently been reading about Plum Village (I have a couple of Thich Nhat Hahn books in my Christmas pile) and thought it sounded like a fantastic place to visit. I think you can join them for week (or longer) retreats. Is that right?
If you make it down there, I’ll have to work on my envy.
I meant to ask if you’d read this book I saw in the bookshop at the Buddhist Centre where I attend classes – it’s called “Asperger’s Syndrome and Mindfulness” and is written by a guy called Chris Mitchell who’s been diagnosed with AS. I’m planning to add it to my book pile at some point!
Cheers

Take care

Just discovered your blog – so glad I have. I have tentatively been exploring buddhism over the past wee while. Wouldn’t a trip to Plum Village be wonderful? I hope your trip works out Rachel. I heard Thich Nhat Hahn speaking when he came to Edinburgh a few years ago, so inspiring. Hope you’re enjoying your Christmas reading. My pile of books on the book always seems to have one of his books in it. He has so much to teach!
Take care, and looking forward to reading more on your blog.
